Review of Battlefield Hardline from EA
Battlefield Hardline: Similar but Not the Same! which was
released in 2015 is one of the best games that can compete with Call of Duty
Advance Warfare.
Visceral Games who is responsible for the process of
developing this spin-off series asks for extra time, to ensure Hardline
performs at the best quality, especially from the story format offered.
You who have read our previous preview of course have a
little picture of what is offered by this Battlefield Hardline. Visually, he
appeared quite charming. Although it does not provide a significant visual
difference from Battlefield 4, but the details of the face and lighting that is
carried does feel better. If they are indeed ambitious to capture the sensation
of classic police-crime drama films, at least the first stage to achieve this
is very well executed. Animated facial movements and strong voice actors make
the cosmetic side of Battlefield Hardline look satisfying.
So, what exactly is offered by this Battlefield Hardline?
Why do we call it the Battlefield product that is more or less the same?
This time the Battlefield Hardline dares to look different
from the Battlefield series so far that always makes military war between two
or more countries as the focus, Hardline appears different. He made the
conflict between the police and organized criminals the main theme and made it
the root of the experience he was about to offer. This forced the Visceral to
adapt, because it was almost impossible, a tangle of stories in the style of
another Battlefield series could be used as a reference. Therefore, they refer
to Hollywood-style police drama films in the class of Bad Boys or Internal
Affairs. If you are a gamer who has tasted films like this, then you know
clearly what can be expected from this Battlefield Hardline itself.
The Battlefield Hardline game player plays Nick Mendoza - a
clean policeman who is struggling to eradicate narcotics trails in their area.
Assisted by his friend - Detective Carl Stoddard, this investigation brought
Mendoza into a more dangerous conflict of interest. The Miami Police work line
turned out not to be as imagined. With the influence of narcotics leaders who
are already so strong and deep-rooted, it is difficult to filter out who is the
person who can be trusted or not. But at a glance, the other two characters -
an Asian-blooded female detective named Khai and the head of the unit - Dawes
look so idealistic and sincerely protect Miami.
However, you will never know such a soul that is hidden in
every face mask that you encounter. Unfortunately, Mendoza had to learn this
fact the hard way. Being framed by his own friend, Mendoza was forced to go to
prison for a crime he did not commit. He spent three years behind bars, which
also witnessed the death of his beloved mother. But in the past, it seemed that
it could not just walk away. The three years of bars were only the beginning of
a new "war" waged by Mendoza, along with others he had never
expected..
Battlefield is not a franchise that can be called strong in
single player mode. He always has to submit to the story style and
dramatization that is injected by Call of Duty, which always offers a more
epic, evocative, and tense experience. Battlefield always feels flatter, either
because of the character or unwillingness to inject more "crazy"
scenes for extra dramatization, to ensure a more rooted war experience on the
realistic side. Unfortunately, the same thing also happened at Battlefield
Hardline. Although the story has a plot twist here and there, the presentation
itself isn't very interesting. The impression that he lacked something
"biting" still happened here.
However, that does not mean that Hardline appeared to
plagiarize the Battlefield series that we all know. The concept of fighting with
a smaller scope of conflict - between police and criminals - makes Hardline
more unique. Of course, Visceral can no longer just throw a drone, wingsuit,
Aircraft Carrier, atomic bombs, and massive explosions here and there just like
that. Why? Because it's most likely, it will actually conflict with the main
theme that Hardline wants to offer. As a replacement? We are dealing with
several new gameplay mechanisms that actually make Hardline feel closer to the
Far Cry series, rather than Battlefield itself.
So who actually trapped Mendoza? Which characters can be
trusted and which are traitors in the Police unit? Who exactly is their main
enemy? You can answer all these questions by playing this Battlefield Hardline.
Conclusion
So what can be inferred from Battlefield Hardline? The
thumbs up deserves to be directed at Visceral, which consistently does direct
Hardline to the theme of the police - the criminal he is carrying, while making
it appear different compared to the Battlefield series that you have known. The
story that is carried counts to a standard, especially for those of you who
quite often enjoy action films and police dramas. Even so, he still looks
attractive.
But the biggest appreciation deserves to be directed at the
implementation of the Frostbite engine that is able to capture facial animation
better. Strengthened with voice acts that are also strong, most of these
characters feel so alive. The implementation of gameplay in single player,
unfortunately, is a double-edged war. Some feel unique, but not a few also end
up absurd. While from the multiplayer side? It offers many variations for all
variants of gamers with different desires. But from the beta period they had
held, not many things were different.
Unfortunately, there are a number of records that deserve to
be directed to this Battlefield Hardline. Despite the variety of twist plots he
offers, it still feels like a Battlefield Hardline game, which is not strong
from the single player side. There is still a sensation of "less biting"
which makes it easy to appear boring. AI which still cannot provide much
resistance is also an extra note that deserves attention. While in terms of
multiplayer, the fact that you have to do grinding to be able to appear
relevant in battle is of course very unfortunate.
So, is Battlefield Hardline worth enjoying? At full price,
there is nothing that makes it a must-have game on the first day. But if you
are a gamer who is hungry for multiplayer-focused FPS games, especially if you
are a fanatical Battlefield 4, then there is no compelling reason not to look
at it.
